Kelly Sans is a humanistic sans serif — in the tradition of Gill Sans and Syntax, and distinct from geometric sans serifs like Futura and Kabel, or Swiss styles like Helvetica and Univers. The design pursues classical roman proportions and purity of letterform as closely as a monoline, serifless letter will allow: forms and widths calibrated toward that ideal, spacing held more open than is common in sans serif fonts, where tight fit can cause characters to crowd and merge at smaller sizes. Kelly Sans Book is matched to the color of a typical roman font, while Semibold reads as noticeably heavier without distorting the letterforms. The Italics are sloped romans throughout — with the expected exception of the two-story a and g — designed for maximum clarity and classical consistency.

Let us leave it to the reviewers to abuse such effusions of fancy at their leisure, and over every new novel to talk in threadbare strains of the trash with which the press now groans. Let us not desert one another; we are an injured body.
